CLSS is a new project which aims to assist and support people with limited English proficiency, to enable them to get better access to local services. Most of our interpreters were trained and worked under the CITRUS project run by Corby Community Partnership (CCP). The project closed in 2011 due to the lack of funding, but the demand for its services is still there. Corby has a relatively high number of economic migrants who come from Eastern Europe. Some of these people are skilled, highly qualified and speak good levels of English. They are keen to help people from their own communities whose English is limited and struggle to communicate effectively.
