Collingwood Richardson & Company Limited was founded in 1984 by Donald Richardson after spending some thirty years working for insurance companies and national brokers. Donald first worked for the Commercial Union in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, before spending time with the Royal in Johannesburg and working in London for The Federated and later Stewart Smith Insurance brokers. He arrived in Shrewsbury in 1976 and worked for the broker Brentnal Beard, which in turn became Hogg Robinson. In 1984 with the support of a loyal core of commercial customers he decided to go it alone and has not looked back.

The company has grown steadily every year since and is still situated in the rural Shropshire village of Pontesbury. Donald's son Alan joined the business in 1998 following University and a few of years in Industry. The company continues to prosper by offering straight forward honest and impartial advice in a personal and professional manner to a range of commercial and personal clients.
