Back in 1968 Derrick John Smith founded City Sound, at a time when secondary glazing was virtually unknown, despite the growing problem of old Victorian sash windows in London buildings. Although beautiful, these sash windows were often poorly fitting and allowed, into homes and workplaces, all the noise, draughts and dirt of a growing city. But because most of the buildings in central London are listed, the thought of changing the windows for, the then popular, double glazing was not an option.
City Sound is a family-run business established in 1968, serving Central and Greater London's commercial & residential clients. We can tackle all window designs, and in particular are often asked to sound proof, or draught/heat insulate, Victorian sash windows which can look beautiful but may be noisy, dirty and draughty. Our unique design mirrors the structure of your existing primary windows so that the secondary glazing is hardly visible once installed.
