Charterhouse Standard Holdings was founded in 1994 by Michael Holt, following a number of years in the real estate sector. Prior to 2007 Charterhouse assembled a large number of residential investment portfolios throughout the UK. Undertaking an intensive asset management program to improve yields. Upon reaching a critical mass these portfolios were then sold. Since 2008 Charterhouse has focused on purchasing portfolios of residential properties in London and the South East. On purchasing these portfolios the lower yielding properties have been sold in order to drive returns.

Charterhouse typically purchases portfolios and single units from £500k to £30m although larger transactions will be considered with funding partners. Typically a 12% to 20% discount to open market value will be required however the discount will depend on the risk profile of the acquisition. Charterhouse also purchases unconditional development sites, revisionary interests and off plan opportunities.
