Jackie was born and brought up in Surrey, England where she began learning the cello at the age of 8 with Amanda Stratton. Jackie has always had a keen interest in music; she has sung in her church choir since she was 6, plays the organ, 4 different sizes of recorders and also has Grade 8 Distinction in Piano.
Jackie was born and brought up in Surrey, England where she began learning the cello at the age of 8 with Amanda Stratton. Jackie has always had a keen interest in music; she has sung in her church choir since she was 6, plays the organ, 4 different sizes of recorders and also has Grade 8 Distinction in Piano.
She has played in orchestras and chamber groups from a young age and was principal cellist of the Surrey County Youth Orchestra until accepting her place to study at the RSAMD (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and moving to Glasgow.
Jackie studied with Robert Irvine and graduated with a Masters degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in July 2013. She is a keen chamber musician and plays regularly with several Glasgow based string quartets, the cello and guitar duo Ten Strings as well as duo work with pianist Scott Mitchell.
