I have been working in complementary therapies and natural medicines part time since 2001 but it was a personal tragedy that led me to leave the corporate environment and pursue my true passion in life and that is how I came about setting up Barefoot Medicine Acupuncture Clinic and establishing my full-time complementary therapy practice.
Named after the Barefoot Doctors in China who were teachers as well as healers, I share their values of helping people to help themselves to heal. Using acupuncture, herbal remedies, massage, electro-acupuncture, moxibustion, nutrition, mindfulness including meditation and relaxation my goal is to get people back on track to achieving their full potential.
Whilst traditional values remain very important to me, I also believe that 5000 years of anecdotal evidence of the efficacy of Chinese Medicine should be balanced with the modern day evidence-based medicine and the knowledge that we have gained through scientific advances. For this reason, your treatment is likely to have a strong focus on outcome measures and therefore a baseline assessment will be undertaken during the initial consultation and results will be followed up every five sessions (although that may vary depending upon your condition).
I have been privileged to work for the British Acupuncture Council part time since 2014 as the Professional Development Lead for practitioner members across Wales, Herefordshire and Shropshire. This means that I assist other acupuncture practitioners with their CPD (continuing professional development) commitments and I also work with newly qualified acupuncturists or those returning to the profession who need advice and support in getting their business up-and-running.
