ArtShades

Sarah Walker ArtShades is a lampshade designer/maker from Malvern Wells, best known for her half-shades for table lamps and wall lights. She also creates drum shades for ceiling, floor and table. She's a member of the Worcestershire Guild - Contemporary Craft exhibiting at RHS Malvern. She has 3 distinct ranges: colourful appliquéd designs, original handprinted linocut designs and vintage OS map shades. All collections can be customised. She has a comprehensive website with an online shop.

My shades can be custom-made to order in colours and designs to suit you but be warned, once you own one you may struggle to resist the temptation to return each time you decorate another room! Since 2008 I’ve also made shades from reclaimed vintage Ordnance Survey maps, those with lovely soft period colours. I appliqué over the folds and hand roll the edges, to ensure a quality finish. These are often commissioned as personalised presents.

All the shades are made by me in my loft studio at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. I take inspiration from colours and shapes in my hillside garden and daily dog walks on the hills and commons. I love finding new colour combinations to try and new shapes to stitch.
