Since 31 December 2012, all financial advisers have to charge you a fee for their time or advice, rather than accepting commission from policy providers. Some advisers offering "basic advice" can also receive commission. With fee-based advice, there is no incentive for any adviser to skew their advice according to any commission that can be earned.
