I remember wanting to be a hairdresser from a young age. When I left school, I chose to study hair and beauty at college, however I quickly realised that hairdressing was where my own interest lay. I wanted to get the best training possible and was lucky enough to secure a position at a premium salon in Lewes, who offered me the opportunity to train via their in-house training academy. Everyone in the salon had trained through the academy, and standards were extremely high. As well as gaining valuable skills and experience, it kick-started my passion for hairdressing and my love of variety in my work and meeting new people. As well as learning the foundations of my trade and the right skills, working in an incredibly busy and well-regarded salon gave me an opportunity to work alongside a team of senior stylists — all of whom had developed a loyal base of clients who trusted and really loved being looked after by them. It really was the best way to learn.
