Alltype Roofing Supplies was founded by brothers Fred and Jim Bick, who were both roofing contractors in the mid-seventies when they become frustrated by manufacturer supply issues and tile shortages. In response they decided to invest in their own stock of roofing products so they wasn't governed by these downfalls. In 1979, Fred's son Vince opened the first Alltype Depot, renting a corner within a small industrial unit on Marmadon Road, London.

In 1979, Fred's son Vince opened the first Alltype Depot, renting a corner within a small industrial unit on Marmadon Road, London. Their focus was to always have a fully stocked depot, a first class service and wealth of product / industry knowledge, values which stil structure our business today. Alltype now service all of London and the Home Counties from five depots, and is one of the largest independent roofing merchants in the UK. Vince Bick, Alltype's managing director, said: We have had to be resourceful, flexible and responsive in order to survive. Our industry certainly seems to provide a platform for independent, family-run businesses to flourish.
