My name is Alex and I am a freelance photographer living in the historic city of York. I have been a professional photographer since 2008 when I received my first commissioned job from the Tyne and Wear Transport Authority to photograph the construction of the New Tyne Crossing. My interest in photography started when I was studying Fine Art at Leeds College of Art and Design where I was working predominately with paint. When I borrowed my dad's 1970s Olympus OM-1 to document my work, I quickly become engrossed in photographing my paintings, trying to enhance them with lighting techniques and gels and before I knew it my photographs had become my art work. I left Leeds to do a degree in photography at Northumbria University where I received 1st Class honours. My career started with photographing architecture and construction projects.
