On completion of nine years service with the Royal Navy I entered the thatching industry as an apprentice with Norfolk Reed Thatchers Ltd; of Henley-on-Thames with additional training provided at the CoSIRA Thatching Training School in Northamptonshire.
I have since worked as a self-employed thatching contractor for more than 40 years. I have a wealth of experience covering Water (Norfolk) Reed, Combed Wheat Reed and Long Straw styles of thatching.My aim is to offer an inclusive service to owners of thatched properties.I provide free estimates, together with detailed specifications for recommended thatching works from general maintenance and re-ridging to complete re-thatching.All my work is carried out to the standards & specification as laid down in 'The Thatchers Craft' (published by Rural Industries Bureau 1961).
